About Us
Set within 240 acres of the Wicklow uplands and surrounded by the Wicklow Mountains National Park, Kippure Adventure offers a unique environment where young people can learn, explore and challenge themselves in the outdoors.
Our programmes combine outdoor education, adventure and hands-on learning, creating experiences that build confidence, encourage teamwork and help students develop a greater understanding of the natural world.
From a child’s first outdoor school experience to Leaving Certificate field studies and Gaisce expeditions, our programmes are designed to make learning engaging, practical and memorable.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Kippure Estate’s natural surroundings provide an outdoor learning environment for activities including orienteering, bushcraft, ecology, geography field studies, hiking, team challenges and nature exploration. Programmes are adapted to suit different ages, group sizes and learning objectives.
For primary school pupils, activities are designed to connect outdoor experiences with the Irish Primary School Curriculum while encouraging curiosity, communication and cooperation. For older students, we offer field studies and practical outdoor programmes that combine academic learning with real-world experience.
An Incredible Natural Classroom
Kippure’s location is an important part of the experience.
Forests, rivers, bogland and upland landscapes provide opportunities for students to explore different habitats and ecosystems firsthand. The estate also includes on-site classrooms and bathroom facilities, allowing schools to combine outdoor learning with the facilities needed for a comfortable and well-organised visit.
Experienced & Supportive Instructors
Activities are led by qualified and experienced outdoor instructors, with programmes supervised and activities risk assessed. Regular breaks and access to facilities are incorporated into school programmes.
Our instructors encourage students to get involved, try something new and work together, whether they are navigating an orienteering course, building a woodland shelter, carrying out a river study or completing an expedition.
Something for Every Stage
Kippure offers programmes for different stages of a student’s education, including Primary School Outdoor Education, Secondary School Field Studies & Adventure Programmes and Bronze Gaisce Expeditions.
Whatever the programme, the aim is simple: to create an experience that combines learning, adventure and personal growth in the natural surroundings of the Wicklow Mountains.
